SSEA By-laws / Articles of Incorporation

The Ontario Government has passed new requirements for Not-for-Profit organizations such as the SSEA/SEEA. The legistation is known as ONCA. All organzations have until the fall of 2024 to either submit revised Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, or be given a generic set of Bylaws by the Government. The SSEA/SEEA has chosen to revise its existing Bylaws so as to be in full compliance, while retaining our particular character and procedures. The revisions are currently being finalized before being posted here. Our revisions are the least possible required to ensure compliance, except for a couple of changes that will be explained. Most of what is involved is required, updated legal phrasing and formatting. The major change to the Articles is to incorporate the French-language name of the Society for the first time.

Members will meet to hear more about them and to discuss them at 11 a.m. on June 1 2024. The approval of members is required by the Government to ratify. Failing ratification, the Government's default provisions will come into force and apply to the Society. Members will be able to attend both In Person and Online, and can cast their vote by proxy and mail-in.

The new wording of the new By-laws and Articles of Incorporation will appear here as soon as they are available, to inform members.
