The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)

Katary Lectures
GEM
Date: 01 June 2024 13:00

Venue: Online Zoom event hosted nationally

About this event

Our speaker, Dr. Abbas is Assistant Deputy Minister for Archaeological Affairs at the Grand Egyptian Museum. He will be talking about the new Grand Egyptian Museum, in a virtual talk. Despite the fact that he will not be with us in person, you can take in his lecture together to hear about this spectacular new museum and also learn more of the plans for its long-awaited opening.

Once completed, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will be the world’s largest archaeological museum and house over 100,000 objects dating from prehistoric to Roman periods. Most notably, almost all objects from Tutankhamun’s tomb will be on display for the very first time. Dr. Abbas will present an overview of this massive project, highlight some star objects that will be exhibited in its galleries, and report the latest progress made toward the full opening of the museum to the public.

This event is a fund-raising event for the Sally L.D. Katary Scholarship Fund. A donation of $10 is encouraged. Tax receipts will be provided for donations of $20 or more. Donations can be made online at Eventbrite, or in person at the door

If coming in person, just show up. If viewing online, please register at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/sally-katary-scholarship-fund-lecture-the-grand-egyptian-museum-tickets-902247595847.
